DarKu published a review of the Sennheiser 660S headphone over on Head-Fi. This is a replacement for the 600/650. This is another in the increasing round of incremental improvements on venerable headphones from Senn and others. From the review it appears that the 660S is comparable more to the 600 than the 650 with the biggest improvement in the bass response. The challenge is whether the incremental improvement is worth an 80-90% increase in price? The 660S is on Amazon for $499 with the 650 at $300 and the 600 at $260. Just like the HD-800 and Beyerdynamic T1 the originals might be the way to go and save the money for other gear.
– High comfort, solid construction and durability
– Good tonal balance, rich and full of substance
– Balanced frequency response, nothing stands out too much
– Airy presentation that leads to good holography
– Let the veil be lifted! Good riddance to muddy and veiled sound
– High level of detail retrieval for the price category it belongs
– Back in black matte paint
– Shy sub-base
– Slight distortion on sub and mid-bass
– Medium size soundstage

Twister6 posted a review of the IE 800S over on Head-Fi. As with other twister6’s reviews this one is thorough. Unfortunately, there is no comparison with the original IE 800. I owned an original and loved them but I felt there were other comparable IEMs for significantly less than the $700-$800 price tag.
Pros – very natural tonality, coherent tuning, tiny ceramic shells with 7mm XWB dynamic drivers, modular cable design with 2.5mm, 3.5mm, and 4.4mm terminations.
Cons – cable is not detachable, microphonics wearing cable down (but not up), short nozzle with custom eartips (though, standard Comply supported)

Serman005 posted a very nice review of the HD 600 over on Head-Fi. Included in the review are comparisons to the HD 598 and HE 400s. The are a bargain at $288.
Pros: neutral signature, profound detail, lushness
Cons: lean-ish sub bass, modest soundstage

Malfunkt posted on Head-Fi an interesting comparison of the HD700, D2000, MDR-7520, LCD-2 R1 and UE6000s. To facilitate this comparison Malfunkt used various musical compositions across various genres. Interesting but not surprising results. Click the link below to see the results.
In case you missed the notice on Head-Fi, Senn has announced four new headphones @ CES. The link to the Head-Fi notice is below:

Okay, the HD650 can’t be purchased with that label for $200 but in only four days you can purchase the Sennheiser HD6xx for $199 from Massdrop. According to Jude over at Head-Fi these two headphones are the actually the same. So if you were interested in purchasing the HD-650 but couldn’t afford the $500 you can now purchase it for $200.
Below is the video review from Jude

Lieven has a wonderful review of the new HD800s headphone on Headfonia with extensive comparisons to the original HD800. I agree with Lieven that the HD800s is reaching out to a broader market by bringing out more lower mids and bass. I recently compared the HD800s with my original HD800 and have decided to keep the originals. Read the review and see which headphone Lieven likes more.
